Radicchio / Chicory
Sow seeds 6 per foot in rows 18" apart. Deep bed spacing is 8"-10". Plant when soil can be worked before last frost and every 2 weeks until mid July, in soil with a pH of 6.0. Grows well with carrot, radish, strawberry and cucumber, Don't over-fertilize. Do rotate crops and use beneficial insects or soap sprays to control pests. The red chicories are known as radicchio. They are well suited to a cool climate, because they grow well in areas with cool nights and are best eaten after a hard frost. Keeps well through the Fall when mulched. One packet = 250 mg. = 180 seeds, sows 15'.
