Bulb Onions from Transplants

Gardeners prefer the ease and certainty of transplants because compared to growing bulb onions from seeds, they're far more productive and quite trouble-free. We grow ours over the winter in the deep South, so they get really husky by the time Spring comes in the North and are well-rooted and ready to spring into life. All our seedlings are disease and pest free, certified to enter California and Idaho. Sold in bundles, each containing approximately 50-60 plants depending on plant size. Our bunch will plant two 10' rows, provided they are spaced 4" apart. Be sure to tell us when you want yours to arrive.

Comes from a fortunate cross between a northern Long Day onion and a southern Short Day variety. Uniquely sweet, mild flavor of the Short Day varieties, but is adapted to both Mid Day and Long Day regions. Candy produces jumbos to colossals, ready to harvest before others go tops-down. Inside you’ll find large, thick rings with mostly single centers and attractive white flesh. Bulbs have small necks and a beautiful golden color. If well-cured, keeping them until March should be no problem. If a northern gardener wanted a sweet storage onion, this one would be the type to grow. Nearly as tasty as Texas Supersweet!
