Intermediate Day Onions
by Betty Jacobs Garlic, shallots, walking onions, potato onions, elephant garlic, leeks and chives. Complete cultural practices, including curing. Booklet.$3.95
Comes from a fortunate cross between a northern Long Day onion and a southern Short Day variety. Uniquely sweet, mild flavor of the Short Day varieties, but is adapted to both Mid Day and Long Day regions. Candy produces jumbos to colossals, ready to harvest before others go tops-down. Inside youll find large, thick rings with mostly single centers and attractive white flesh. Bulbs have small necks and a beautiful golden color. If well-cured, keeping them until March should be no problem. If a northern gardener wanted a sweet storage onion, this one would be the type to grow. Nearly as tasty as Texas Supersweet!
