Multi-purpose corn can be eaten as sweet corn or hominy, or ground for use as an excellent flour for tortillas and corn bread. Vivid colors indicate high flavonoid content. Painted Mountain is being used today as an ornamental in craft projects utilizing the multi-colored stalks and husks. Northern farmers are using Painted Mountain as an early corn fodder crop.
