Swiss Chard

A great mid-summer green which grows well in the heat. It lasts through the fall's first few light frosts. 5 feet per person. One packet = 5 g. = 350 seeds, sows 30 feet. 1 oz. = 1600-2500 seeds. CULTURE: Sow in the spring, 8-10 seeds per foot, in rows 18-24" apart. Thin plants to 8-10" apart. Deep bed spacing 10" apart. SEASON: Cool season. Plant 2-4 weeks before last frost. SOIL: Slightly acid pH 6.0-6.8. MIN. SOIL TEMP: 40 degrees Fahrenheit. PESTS: ANTHRACNOSE: Control through clean tillage.
