Description
Fernleaf Dill is a compact, slow-bolting variety known for its finely divided, bright green foliage and strong, classic dill aroma. It offers the same distinctive flavor as standard dill but in a smaller, bushier plant that is especially well-suited for containers and small gardens.
This variety is prized for its extended leaf production period before flowering, allowing for a longer harvest of tender dill weed. It performs well in cool weather and maintains good flavor throughout the growing season.
- Type: Open-pollinated annual
- Direct sow: Early spring and successive plantings
- Sun: Full sun
- Spacing: 6–8 inches
- Height: 12–18 inches
- Days to harvest: 40–45 days (leaves), 70–80 days (seed)
Dill grows best in cool to moderate temperatures and well-drained soil. Sow seeds directly, as it does not transplant well, and thin seedlings to encourage strong growth. Keep soil evenly moist and harvest leaves frequently to encourage continued production. Allow some plants to flower if seed production is desired.
