Description
Dark Opal Basil is an ornamental and culinary basil variety known for its deep purple, glossy leaves and strong, spicy-sweet aroma. Its flavor is similar to traditional sweet basil but with slightly more clove-like and peppery undertones. It is often used in vinegars, salads, garnishes, and infused oils for both flavor and striking color contrast.
This warm-season annual produces compact, bushy growth and performs best in full sun and heat. It is also valued in gardens for its ornamental appeal and attractive pink to lavender flower spikes that attract pollinators.
