Description
Lady Godiva Pumpkin is a unique heirloom variety grown primarily for its “naked” or hull-less seeds, which are easy to harvest, shell-free, and perfect for roasting or snacking. While the small-to-medium fruits make for beautiful fall decor, this variety is especially valued for its nutrient-rich green seeds that are packed with flavor and ideal for fresh roasting straight from the pumpkin. (The flesh is not edible.)
- Type: Open-pollinated annual (heirloom, hull-less seed type)
- Direct sow: After last frost when soil is warm
- Sun: Full sun
- Spacing: 36–48 inches
- Height: 10–15 feet (vigorous vining habit, requires space or trellis support)
- Days to harvest: 100–110 days
Pumpkins thrive in warm weather and rich, well-drained soil with plenty of organic matter. Sow seeds directly outdoors or transplant once temperatures are consistently warm. Provide ample space for vines to spread and keep soil evenly moist during growth. Harvest when fruits turn a deep golden-orange and the rind is firm. Allow pumpkins to cure in a warm, dry place for 1–2 weeks before cutting to improve seed quality and storage life. Scoop seeds, rinse, and dry thoroughly before roasting for best flavor and texture.
